SUMMARY:OSHA’s Temporary Worker Initiative Bulletin Series: Construction Employment
DESCRIPTION:Register here \nWho Should Attend\nStaffing\, recruiting\, and workforce solutions industry owners\, principals\, chief executive officers\, presidents\, branch managers\, and recruiting professionals \nHighlights\nThe U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued recommended practices for temporary workers and issued bulletins on various safety-related topics. This webinar will review “TWI Bulletin No. 15: Construction Industry Employment.” The construction industry continues to grow in the U.S. as more people need housing\, commercial spaces\, and other infrastructure. However\, construction activities can present significant hazards to workers\, including falls from heights and exposure to electric energy\, as well as struck-by and caught-in-between hazards. Workers employed through staffing agencies are generally called temporary or supplied workers whether or not the job is actually temporary. Whether temporary or permanent\, all workers always have a right to a safe and healthy workplace. The staffing agency and the staffing agency’s client (the host employer) are joint employers of temporary workers and\, therefore\, both are responsible for providing and maintaining a safe work environment for those workers. The staffing agency and the host employer must work together to ensure that requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (the OSH Act) are fully met. \nDuring this webinar\, attendees will learn \n\nWhat is a temporary worker; staffing agency; and host-employer\nWhat is a joint employer relationship and who has responsibility for maintaining safe working conditions and complying with OSHA requirements\nWhat the staffing agency and the host employer can do to ensure the safety of temporary workers in the construction industry
