The American Staffing Association reported on the hardest-to-fill positions from each sector, according to data from the final quarter of 2016. These positions give insight into where skills shortages may be most prevalent.

In healthcare, physician assistants and psychiatrists are most needed. In engineering and IT, it’s computer research scientists and information security analysts. The industrial sector has a shortage of truck drivers and food service managers. Tellers and interviewers the most in-demand clerical jobs.

Recruiters and staffing execs can use the skills index data to gain insight into client needs and develop targeted recruiting strategies.
