More than 4 million employees are no longer eligible for overtime pay. U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant has ruled in favor of over 55 business groups that challenged an Obama administration rule to raise the minimum exemption salary to $47,476, doubling the previous exemption salary. It is likely that the exemption salary will be raised in the future but more slowly.
This ruling does not require any change or action from employers, and the existing overtime rule remains at the $23,660 threshold.
