U.S. temporary staffing revenue will more than recover this year, according to the latest staffing industry forecast from SIA. The company predicts temporary staffing revenue will reach $134.7 billion in 2021, representing an 11% increase.
The temporary staffing industry fell 8% last year due to the pandemic. Timothy Landhuis, director of research, North America, at SIA, noted that declines in some areas were offset by growth in others, including life sciences and healthcare staffing.
The fastest-growing area in 2021 is expected to be education, which decreased 35% last year. IT and industrial staffing are also forecast to grow. Meanwhile, travel nursing, which grew rapidly during the pandemic, will continue to grow this year, though at a slower rate, and likely decline next year.
