Increase and decrease. Arrows up and down. Rise and fall. Above and below. Yes or no.

The U.S. staffing industry will end the year with revenue down 10% to $201.7 billion, according to the latest forecast from Staffing Industry Analysts. Next year, the industry as a whole is predicted to grow 3%.

A large chunk of 2023’s estimated decline can be attributed to travel nursing, which will decrease by 30% this year, according to SIA. This is not surprising given the large revenue increases in the sector in 2021 (+190%) and 2022 (+52%).

The industrial, office/clerical, and IT staffing sectors are also expected to decline. Meanwhile, SIA projects growth for education, locum tenens, and engineering.
