Intel’s 2016 Diversity & Inclusion Annual Report reveals the company has reached 100% pay equality for women, African-Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans. The tech company also announced “promotion parity” for those groups. Workers from diverse backgrounds represent 45% of the new hires in 2016.
Intel created a strong initiative to hire, promote, and equitably pay women and minorities. They surveyed employees to discover what challenges workers of color face, and they created a hotline, which they call a WarmLine, to hear feedback and offer support for employees considering leaving the company.
This is good news for women and minorities in tech, who are severely underrepresented in the field. Intel shows companies in all industries that equity makes good business sense.
