Only 13,500 healthcare jobs were added to the market in March, which is less than half of the 31,400 jobs created in February, according to Modern Healthcare. Hospital jobs made up 8,700 of the positions added in March.
In 2016, healthcare was the leading industry in job creation. This year, construction has taken over the lead, despite slowed growth across all segments.
With last month’s uncertainty regarding the ACA, healthcare execs likely held off on major hiring sprees. Recruiters and staffing execs should prepare for this healthcare halt to continue in the coming months, if not longer.
