The majority (90%) of U.S. decision makers say their company is looking to hire full-time, mid- or entry-level workers through the end of 2022, according to a new survey from The Harris Poll and commissioned by Express Employment Professionals. The top positions will be IT/technology support (29%), customer service (26%), general labor (25%), and sales (25%).
Interest in hiring full-time employees has increased since the first half of 2020. At that time, 66% of hiring managers planned to hire full-time employees. Now, more than 8 in 10 (84%) plan to do so.
The majority of open positions are mid-level (55%) and entry-level (52%), and just over half (51%) of hiring managers plan to fill those positions with recent graduates. Only about one-third (31%) of companies plan to hire senior-level employees.
Although most companies prefer full-time employees, turnover remains a concern. Almost 8 in 10 (79%) are willing to hire contingent workers to meet business needs.
