A number of job board websites were recently slapped with age discrimination allegations by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. CareerBuilder, Monster, and Indeed were among the six companies listed in Madigan’s probe.
The sites failed to include years in their drop-down menus that would accommodate graduation and employment dates of older applicants. These omissions excluded job seekers as young as fifty from fully using the sites and from the opportunities available to younger applicants.
Indeed and CareerBuilder have adjusted their drop-down menus to include a broader age range. They publicly stated that they regret the calendar errors and are committed to helping people of all ages find jobs.
