Millennials will refuse or resign from jobs if company values do not match their own, particularly on the issue of sustainability, finds a new study by Rubbermaid and Lightspeed.
Here are some key points:
- About 10% of Millennials would quit their jobs if they discovered their employer was not sustainable
- More than 80% of Millennials seek out opportunities to improve sustainability in their companies
- Nearly two-thirds would recycle at work more often if provided the proper receptacles, while only 55% of Gen X and 58% of Baby Boomers report they’d do the same
As the largest demographic in the workforce, the amount of weight that millennials pull is enormous. Employers may have to implement a value-driven model for their businesses, particularly on sustainability, if they want to draw from the widest pool of top talent. Recruiters can get a head start on this by profiling both employers and candidates on their values in order to find good matches.
