Only 12% of respondents in Vaco’s latest Talent Pulse Report said they were employed and happy with their current job, while nearly half (44%) of employed respondents said they want a new job. 

And they’re feeling more optimistic about the job search process. Compared to the last quarter of 2023, job seekers have become more confident about their ability to find jobs, improve their finances, and further their careers:

  • For the first quarter of this year, 43% reported that they’re “extremely confident” about their ability to find and keep a job, up from 39% toward the end of 2023. Only 27% said they weren’t confident (down from 30% in Q4 2023). 
  • More than four in 10 (45%) said they’re “extremely confident” about improving their financial situation via a raise or new job within the next six months, which is a 8% increase from Q4 of 2023. Less than a quarter (23%) said they weren’t confident. 
  • Half of respondents felt “extremely confident” they could advance their careers over the next year, an improvement from 46% in the last quarter of 2023. One in five (20%) weren’t confident, a decrease from 25% in Q4 2023.
