Nonfarm payroll added 303,000 jobs in March, according to the latest BLS jobs report, exceeding the 12-month average monthly gain of 231,000.
Health care again led growth, increasing by 72,000 jobs in March, followed by gains in government (+71,000) and leisure and hospitality (+49,000). Temporary help services, after losing almost 12,000 jobs in February, decreased by 1,300 jobs.
The latest report also included revisions for job growth in January (up to +256,000 jobs) and February (down to +270,000 jobs), bringing the combined total to 22,000 higher than previously reported.
At 3.8%, the unemployment rate changed little over the month, accounting for 6.4 million unemployed people. The labor force participation rate also held steady, measuring at 62.7%.
