Job openings declined slightly to 8.1 million in April, according to the most recent BLS Job Openings and Labor Turnover report, following March’s 8.4 million. The number of hires came in at 5.6 million and separations totaled 5.4 million, little changed from March.

- Accommodation and food services: (-97,000)
- State and local education: (-59,000)
- Information: (-43,000)
- Real estate and rental and leasing: (-18,000)
