The majority of large retailers (80%) expect to hire for the holidays at the same rate as last year, according to a survey from executive search and recruiting firm Korn Ferry. Though brick-and-mortar stores experienced a rough year full of store closures and layoffs, the strength of the economy overall bodes well for holiday hiring.

Retailers face a tight job market. With the unemployment rate at a 16-year low, many hirers started posting jobs earlier in the year. Daniel Culbertson of Indeed says, “If the current trend in the level of 2017 holiday postings continues, the volume of holiday postings as a share of all postings on Indeed will exceed that of the past two years.”

What does this mean for you and your recruiters? Get your candidates ready to rock. They should have their choice of great holiday gigs.
