Labor Secretary nominee Alexander Acosta squeaked by on a 12-11 vote in the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee last week. The committee voted along party lines, and the next step is Senate approval with a minimum of 52 votes. Acosta will be confirmed with that number if only Republicans vote him in.

Acosta is the second contender for Labor Secretary after Andrew Puzder withdrew from consideration earlier this year, over concerns about his undocumented housekeeper and how his business treats workers.

Though still concerned with the nomination, many Democrats are happier with Acosta than they were with Puzder.
